The relation between population quantity and quality has greatly changed during industrialization and marketization. Most Chinese households, therefore, turned to the quality preference from quantity preference dramatically. The reversal of population preference improves professional skills of family members and promotes the development of division of labor in family. The change of population preference produces the economy of division, which becomes an important opportunity to go beyond the “Malthus trap” that has been maintained by low skill and low labor division.
