Education Background:

Dr. Wei Zhou as a professor in plant nutrition received his BSc degree in Agronomy from Jiangxi Agricultural University in 1987, his MS degree in Soil Science from Jiangxi Agricultural University in 1990, and his PhD in Plant Nutrition in Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1995. During 2002 to 2003, Dr. Zhou worked on molecular physiology at Rothamsted Research as a post-doctoral fellow.

Research Area:

Dr. Wei Zhou is now the leader of National Key Basic Research Program (973) Program "mechanism and approaches for sustainable high efficient use of fertilizer nutrients". He is also in charge of the project of Special Fund for Agro-scientific Research in the Public Interest "Amelioration of low yield paddy soil", the project of the earmarked fund for China Agriculture Research System "Fertilizer recommendation for rice", and the project of National Natural Science Foundation of China "Microbes-mediated C and N cycles in rhizosphere". Dr. Zhou has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific papers, the achievement on research on plant nutrients sulfur and calcium was recognized by China government as the National Award in Science and Technology Progress. Dr. Zhou is now the vice president of Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Science, the editorial board member of the Journal of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer, and Leader of Innovation teams in priority areas (highefficiency utilization of nutrient resources) accredited by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.

Dr. Zhou is the head of Innovation team in Plant Nutrition Research, CAAS. This team has 12 staff, including 7 professors and 2 associate professors. Research interests mainly focus on plant nutrition biology, nutrient cycling, and nutrient management.
